4. PRODUCT/SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS
a) Remote Sensing and GIS - GEORISK CJSC uses computerized processing of remote
sensing data obtained from Landsat-TM (USA), Landsat-7ETM+ (USA), SPOT (France),
and ERS (European Union) satellite systems covering the area of Armenia and of
adjacent regions of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Eastern Turkey, Iran, Syria, Iraq, and
Turkmenistan (Kopet-Dag).
b) Engineering Geology - Drilling, geotechnical tests, chemical analyses, geophysical
works, slope stability calculations, engineering geology mapping.
c) Geology - Exploration of mineral deposits, laboratory and field analytical stud-
ies, creation of structural and geodynamic models, water resources, and geological
aspects for energy system and transport.
d) GIS technologies, GPS surveys - Creation of digital 2D and 3D computer models and
databases on deposit geology, environment and operation infrastructure in GIS
format.
e) Ecology and Biotechnology - Laboratory and field analyses, assessment and monitor-
ing, biotechnology and bioenergetics. GEORISK CJSC has analytical tools to conduct
environmental and biotechnological research both in field conditions, and in
l a b o r a t o r y .
GEORISK CJSC conducts environmental monitoring, as well as monitors natural and
man-induced hazards through chemical, biological, and microbiological investiga-
tions within the studied areas. Much importance is given to studies of surface and
ground waters.
f) Assessment of hazards and risks
Earthquakes - The studies include field and laboratory phases of works, and
preparation of final products, seismic zoning and micro-seismic zoning. Assessment
of seismic hazard and risk by deterministic and probabilistic approaches and
preparation of maps of seismic zoning and risk.
Volcanoes - The studies include field and laboratory works in the field of the
Quaternary and Holocene volcanism, and issues related to volcanic hazard and risk
assessments.
Landslides - Study of genetic, morphological, kinematics, and other landslide
parameters, and calculations of slope stability under dynamic and static loads
using GEOSLOPE computer program; landslide hazard and risk assessment, and compi-

lation of the GIS-format database. ○
