WELCOME
DEAR BUSINESSMEN, Please allow me to introduce the Armenia Export
Catalog 2003-2004 (AEC): a unique project that aims to present
Armenia’s potential exports to the outside business world.
Today, many Armenian companies are producing high quality prod-
ucts that, although can compete in foreign markets, do not have
the necessary means in marketing themselves. The Armenia Export
Catalog 2003-2004 has consequently been created to provide the
necessary marketing means for such high quality exports. Because
AEC 2003-2004 was based on research conducted for the needs of
b o t h
local and foreign markets, we are certain that the Catalog will serve as a useful
tool for foreign companies that want to establish successful and mutually benefi-
cial ties with Armenian companies. The 2002 pilot project of the Armenia Export
Catalog only ascertains the reliability of the provided information.
Thanks to the assistance of numerous organizations operating in Armenia, we have
succeeded in not only increasing the number of companies included in the Catalog,
but also in making it more presentable and dynamic. Specifically I would like to
express my gratitude to our main donor, the Eurasia Foundation in Armenia; and
also to the Armenian Development Agency, USAID, the World Bank, USDA, IREX, and
“MPG” Consulting (Marketing Professional Group) who have assisted the project
through technical and financial assistance.
It is highly important to mention also the considerable assistance provided by
regional business-centers for implementation of the project, namely: the Munici-
pality of Vayots Dzor Marz (Mr. Vanik Khudaverdyan), “Economic Consulting Center”
Ltd. of Gyumri (Mr. Armen Begoyan), “Verelk” NGO of Tavush Marz (Mr. Pavel
Abovyan) and the Business Center “A&L” Ltd. of Vanadzor. We would also like to
thank “Spyur” Information Service, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, the
Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen (Employers) of Armenia, and the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia for providing us with informa-
tion assistance.
Finally, we would like to thank the Cambridge Yerevan Sister City Association
(Boston, MA) who has supported the idea of implementing the “Armenia Export
Catalog” pilot project since 2002.
Due to the efforts of our specialists, we have achieved the anticipated results
of the project and have provided information on 153 companies functioning in
Armenia. Regarding the quality from inception to dissemination, this is some-
thing you may judge for yourself.
We hope that the implemented work will ensure that businessmen in different
countries are informed about the great potential available in Armenia. Our
intended printing 2500 copies of the catalog, 1000 CDs, and the on-line version
of the Catalog will hopefully fill up the current lack of information that exists
regarding Armenia.
Taking into account that the current project will be implemented on a continual
basis, we will be pleased to see companies included in the current, and also
future, issues. We also hope that more companies will join the Catalog so that
Armenia reaches the required level in order to present their products and ser-
vices to our foreign partners.
We would highly appreciate any comments and/or recommendations regarding the
Catalog users so that we’ll be able to meet their demands and requirements in
future.
Sincerely, ARAM NAVASARDYAN President
ARMENIAN MARKETING ASSOCIA-
TION
