INTRODUCTION
Taking into consideration that many Armenian companies do not have enough possi-
bilities to look for and find foreign partners, which is first of all connected
with significant financial expenditures and trained marketing personnel, the
present project allows to have a cumulative effect on potential markets of
Armenian products, by uniting the possibilities of all export-oriented compa-
nies, and also to establish long term relations with foreign partners.
The Catalog is divided into several sections which ensures its high functionality
and makes it more user-friendly.
FIRST SECTION: This section consists of brief information about Armenia and its
economic indicators. In comparison with the first issue of the Catalog (2002)
several changes have been made here by presenting brief information and giving
references to internet sources of ministries and institutions responsible for the
development of economy, investment climate, tax and customs regulation and orga-
nization of import-export transactions.
SECOND SECTION: Taking into consideration that Armenia has a historical tradition
of making wine, dried fruits, natural juice, nectars, cheese and other dairy
products; a considerable number of companies presented in this section are
engaged in the above mentioned production. Armenia is also famous for its healing
and pure drinking water resources. It is not by chance that a number of companies
engaged in the bottling of soda and/or ordinary water are presented here. All
aforementioned products are produced from ecologically pure raw materials. Fi-
nally, companies that produce fish products, confectionaries, and companies
engaged in the development of new technologies in the sphere of microbiology and
medicine are also presented in the given section.
THIRD SECTION: This section includes companies producing manufactured goods. In
2000, the production of Armenian products began to rise after a standstill that
had resulted from the collapse of the Soviet Union. With significant investments
pouring into Armenia, many companies have reopened their doors in industries such
as chemical, electrical, machine-tool building, textile, stone-working, mining,
jewellery production, and processing of precious stones.
FOURTH SECTION: The final section of the Catalog includes companies providing
services in the fields of tourism, information technologies, legal and business
consulting, freight forwarding, construction, design and printing. Nowadays the
tourism industry, as well as the construction of apartment houses and cottages,
continues to grow in Armenia. The spheres of information and high technologies,
which are considered to be priority industries for the Government of Armenia,
should be mentioned in particular since Armenia is working towards becoming a
regional center attracting more and more investors for the mentioned industries.
Regarding consulting companies, we think that they will help the potential
exporters and investors to choose an appropriate partner and undertake the
required commercial and economic transactions.
